A SnotBot is a type of drone specifically designed to collect biological data from whales. The name "SnotBot" comes from its method of gathering samples—by flying through the spouts of whales as they exhale. These spouts contain mucus (or "snot"), which carries valuable biological information such as DNA, hormones, viruses, bacteria, and environmental toxins.

Apparently, whales have really bad breath.
